OpenID to Discuss Benefits of an Open Standard for Authorization

I would like to invite you to an upcoming OpenID London Workshop where me and Kick Willemse, CEO of Prooflink and Board Member of the OpenID Foundation, will discuss the benefits of establishing an open standard for authorization (OAuth) that allows users and organizations to quickly and safely publish, share and interact with highly confidential and protected information.

In the session, “OAuth as the core Internet identity protocol,” we will provide an overview of the OAuth protocol and explain why major technology companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Yahoo have standardized it. We will also discuss how the functionality of the OpenID v2 protocol has been reimplemented on top of OAuth to create OpenID Connect, and the security problems of websites that run their own password-based login systems.

The session will take place on Wednesday, March 28th, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. GMT at the Microsoft London Office, Cardinal Place, 80-100 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5JL.

If you are interested in attending, register here today. Feel free to email me at don [dot] thibeau [at] openidentityexchange [dot] org if you would like to schedule at time to chat at the event. I look forward to seeing you there.
