Sam Eckland will be leaving OIX this month to begin law school at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. As project manager, Sam has been responsible for communications and strategy development for OIX since November 2012.
Sam’s accomplishments include leading content development for the OIXnet concept; managing the re-launch of content and layout for the OIX website, member communications and white papers; and consulting on the development of a governance structure and related communications for OIX work in the UK.
Sam’s interest in legal issues intersected with OIX’s pursuit of pragmatic online identity market engagement in his contribution to three OIX white papers. He worked closely with Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP’s Tom Smedinghoff and Mark Deem to co-author “The Vocabulary of Identity Systems Liability” and edited the publications”Comments on U.S. NSTIC Steering Group Draft Charter and Related Governance Issues” and the “OIX Response to ‘Models for a Governance Structure for the National Strategy for Trusted Identity in Cyberspace’.“
Sam will be succeeded by Katerina Komninos, who brings more than 10 years of communications experience in the private sector as a consultant and global corporate communications manager. Katerina is based in Washington, DC and will focus on developing and executing a multi-channel communication strategy, including social media, to create market and membership engagement.
We welcome Katerina to OIX and wish Sam success as he embarks on his legal studies.
