Enhancing The Medical Student Registration Process Using GOV.UK Verify
At the outset of Doctors beginning their first year foundation programme, the General Medical Council (GMC) provisionally registers approximate 7500 of these medical students. Final year students register online with the GMC for their licence to practice, a three part process involving online activation of their account, an in-person identity check event and an online application. This process of checking the ID of medical students in person can be lengthy and labour intensive. In this project the GMC explored if a digital identity with GOV.UK could replace this part of the process.
