Thanks to all who voted to elect a general member and their alternate who will represent you on the Open Identity Exchange Board of Directors.

I am pleased to announce the election of Jim Lound as the 2019 General Member Representative on the OIX Board. 

Jim joins a Board noted for its thought leadership and the advancement of the use Identity across industries. He has over 30 years’ experience in the identity industry during which time he has hugely influenced the creation and adoption of electronic identity verification techniques. Jim has been a long-time advocate of consumer centric Digital ID, a key OIX goal.

Jim has asked me to convey the following message to the members of OIX:

“I feel honoured to have been elected as the member representative. I think 2020 will be looked upon as a significant milestone in the journey towards achieving a ubiquitous digital identity market. I want to ensure that I represent the aspirations of the members not only as an OIX Board Member but also in engagements with other stakeholders. I will endeavour to speak to all member organisations, in order to understand your opinions and ambitions, in the coming months.”

Frank Joshi who had held the post for the past 12 months received the second highest number of votes and will now act as the general membership’s Alternate Representative. Frank’s commitment to OIX has been demonstrated not just by his role as treasurer of the organisation, but moreover by his tireless promotion of OIX’s and its goals. Frank has been a key influencer for, and advocate of, the new strategy OIX is now pursuing. I want thank Frank for all his support and drive, which I know I can continue to count on as we transform OIX over the coming months.

Both appointments are for one year and require a substantial investment of time and energy.

I would also like to thank Rob Laurence, who has for the past year acted as the general membership’s Alternate Representative. Rob’s commitment to OIX has been demonstrated by his leadership of our working group with techUK on Interoperability and Standards, the recommendations from which will be presented at the forthcoming Economics of Identity Conference. Rob has also created the OIX Peer Review Group which is a cross-industry stakeholder forum that allows us to get the input of those who do, or may in future, consume Identity Services. Again, I want to thank Rob for depth of thinking, insight and his unerring support of OIX and its objectives.

Finally, many thanks to Tatiana Cogevina who put herself forward as a candidate for election this year. I am grateful to the time and effort she put into this process. Separately I want to look at how we better support the views and needs of our non-UK members as we stride ahead and I hope Tatiana will play a key role in this.
